Electrical engineer (general)

Job Description

1. Electrical System Design & Planning

• Design electrical layouts, power distribution systems, control panels, and grounding systems for buildings, plants, and project sites.
• Prepare electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and technical specifications.
• Review electrical plans to ensure compliance with national electrical codes, safety standards, and company requirements.
• Coordinate electrical system requirements with civil, mechanical, and project teams.

1. Installation, Testing, and Commissioning

• Supervise and inspect electrical installations including wiring, panels, motors, lighting systems, and equipment.
• Ensure all installations follow approved drawings, technical specifications, and safety regulations.
• Conduct testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems before project turnover or operation.
• Verify that electrical systems are properly grounded, protected, and safe for operation.

1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in power supply, machines, lighting, control systems, and distribution boards.
• Monitor electrical performance and recommend improvements to avoid downtime or system failure.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.

1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and material specifications.
• Provide technical guidance during project implementation and site activities.
• Attend project meetings to address electrical-related concerns and updates.

1. Energy Management and Efficiency

• Monitor power consumption and identify opportunities for energy savings and system efficiency.
• Recommend upgrades or improvements to reduce power loss and improve system reliability.
• Support implementation of energy-efficient equipment and power-saving programs.

1. Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare and maintain electrical drawings, as-built plans, and technical documents.
• Submit reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and electrical incidents.
• Maintain records of permits, inspections, and compliance documents.

1. Equipment and Asset Management

• Evaluate and recommend electrical equipment and materials for procurement.
• Ensure proper installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical assets.
• Monitor equipment lifespan and recommend replacement or upgrades when needed

1. Other Duties

• Perform other electrical engineering tasks assigned by the Project Manager, Engineering Manager, or Management as required.
