Senior Mechanic

Job Summary

The Senior Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of company trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation operations.

The role includes handling advanced mechanical issues, minimizing vehicle downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and transportation regulations.

• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on fleet trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, hydraulic, and electrical system issues.
• Conduct engine overhauls, tune-ups, and major component replacements as needed.
• Inspect vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with transportation safety standards.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency roadside repair situations when required.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain detailed service records, repair logs, and maintenance documentation.
• Coordinate with operations and dispatch teams regarding vehicle availability and repair timelines.
• Recommend maintenance improvements to reduce fleet downtime and repair costs.
• Ensure proper housekeeping and safe work practices within the workshop.

• Vocational diploma or technical certification in Automotive Servicing or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in truck or heavy vehicle maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, trailer systems, hydraulics, and electrical diagnostics.
• Experience working with commercial trucks, trailers, and fleet maintenance programs.
• Valid driver’s license is an advantage.
