1. Provides direct bedside nursing care to patients in the unit.
2. Identifies patients’ needs, priorities, and health problems by making daily and regular patient’ rounds.
3. Carries out Doctor’s legal orders, always acting as a patient advocate.
4. Formulate the nursing component of health plans for each patient in the unit based on the medical management.
5. Interprets and implements individualized nursing care plans suited for patients in the unit,
6. Develop the patients’ family capability to care for the sick, ensuring continuity of patient care.
7. Carries out medical nursing functions from admitting to discharging of patients;
8. Observes untoward signs and symptoms, institutes remedial action when appropriate and records these in the chart; and reports observations to the attending physician;
9. Prepares patients for, and assists patients with, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; requisitions, administers, and charts medications and patients’ reaction to drugs;
10. Conducts clinic which includes:

1. Obtaining clinical history
2. Performing simple routine physical and laboratory examinations
3. Administering emergency and therapeutic (medical and nursing) measures based on standing orders

1. Keeps accurate records of medical and nursing care rendered in the clinic/unit, including data on nosocomial and sentinel events.
2. Abides and respects the patients’ rights, such as: (the right to privacy, confidentiality, etc.) and orients it to the patients and families including hospital policies and guidelines;
3. Observes strict Infection Control measures which include but are not limited to handwashing, terminal disinfection, isolation of patient, proper use of PPE (masks, gowns, gloves, slippers, caps);
4. Provides health teachings to patients, watchers, relatives, and significant others;
5. Performs other functions assigned by superior from time to time and subject “to call” as the need arises.

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduated from an accredited Nursing School/ College/ University.
2. Registered Nurse in the Philippines.
