Transport Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily transportation operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulations. This role involves coordinating logistics, managing a team of drivers and staff, and maintaining high service standards to meet business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Operations Management
  • Ensure efficient utilization of vehicles and drivers to meet operational demands.
  • Monitor and improve transportation KPIs.
Fleet Management
  • Ensure all vehicles are well-maintained, roadworthy, and comply with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and enforce policies for vehicle inspections, servicing, and repairs.
People Management & Development
  • Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and transport personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement staff development programs.
  • Ensure drivers comply with safety procedures and company policies.
Cost Control & Budgeting
  • Manage transportation budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and driver efficiency to improve profitability.
  • Ensure proper allocation and utilization of transport resources.
Health & Safety Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the transport team.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement accident prevention measures.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Job Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field (preferred). Equivalent work experience may be considered.
Experience
  • At least 7 years of related work experience in fleet management.
  • Proven experience in operations management, logistics, or transportation, preferably in a hauling or trucking environment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and meeting financial goals.
Skills
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and systematic
