Software Engineering Team Lead (L2, Application Support)

Responsible for Leading and mentoring a small development team within a specific task or project, side by side with hands-on development. Works on specific modules, applications or technologies, and deals with sophisticated assignments during the software development process.
In this role, you will gain hands‑on exposure to Service Desk, L1, and L2 operations, building a deep understanding of real‑world processes. On‑desk experience is essential—you’ll learn how things truly work before transforming them. By being directly involved in day‑to‑day operations, you’ll be empowered to create smarter, more effective automation that solves real problems, delivers measurable impact, and drives innovation at scale.
- You will provide technical leadership to software engineers by coaching and mentoring throughout end-to-end software development, maintenance, and lifecycle to achieve project goals to the required level of quality; promote team engagement and motivation.
- You will work in the operations as a Lead, working in collaboration with application support team, and will do ticket management and handling, vendor coordination, and call handling. Resolves issue collaboration, and add value through participation in peer code reviews, provide comments and suggestions, and work with cross functional teams to achieve goals. With this, shifting schedule is needed – during deployment etc., and on-call support in rotation as required.
- Provide recommendations to the software engineering manager for estimates, resource needs, breakthroughs and risks; ensure effective delegation, supervising tasks, identifying risks and handling mitigation and critical issues.
- Hands-on technical and functional mentorship to design, maintenance, build, integration and testing of sophisticated software components according to functional and technical design specifications; Follow software development methodologies and release processes
- You will analyze and report the requirements and provide impact assessment for new features or bug fixes. Make high-level design and establishes technical standards.
- You will represent and lead discussions related to product/ application/ modules/ team and build relationships with internal customers/partners
- You will implement quality processes (such as performing technical root cause analysis and outlining corrective action for given problems), measure them and takes corrective actions in case of variances and ensure all the project agreed work are completed to the required level of quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in science/IT/Computing or equivalent
- 6+ years of proven experience in a software engineering role.
- at least 2+ years of experience in leading tasks and/or mentoring engineers
- Thorough understanding of software development and/or support methodologies, principles and procedures and related software management tools
- Working knowledge and/or experience in programming languages like JAVA, React, Python, Cloud/ AWS, GenAI, Unix, SQL, Shell/ Perl Scripting.
- Good-to-have technical skills: MERN, CI/CD, Gitlab, confluence, Grafana, JIRA, Oracle, postgres, ArgoCD, CI/CD, Confluence, Docker, GCP, Gitlab, GitOps, Grafana, Gsuite, InfluxDB, JIRA, Kubernetes, Mongo.
- Knowledge in Software Development Life Cycle.
- Preferably with Telecommunications background and experience
- Willing to work on shifting/rotational schedule.
- Willing to work on a Dayshift, Hybrid set up (3x per week) in BGC, Taguig City
- Available for Local Hiring only (Philippines).
