Operations Manager

A. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management- Oversee daily operations across air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, and trucking/land transport
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments (import/export)
- Monitor shipment status, resolve operational issues, and prevent delays
- Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (customs, trade laws, documentation)
- Coordinate with customs authorities, port authorities, and regulatory bodies
- Oversee proper documentation (BL, AWB, permits, clearances)
- Lead and supervise operations teams (air, sea, brokerage, transport)
- Set performance targets and KPIs for each unit
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and training
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Ensure high service levels and customer satisfaction
- Act as escalation point for key clients and operational issues
- Coordinate with sales, finance, and external partners (carriers, agents, truckers)
- Monitor operational costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Optimize routing, carrier selection, and transport planning
- Ensure proper billing, costing, and margin control
- Immediately report accidents, delays, or vehicle issues to the supervisor
- Analyze workflow inefficiencies and implement improvements
- Drive digitalization and automation initiatives
- Ensure data accuracy in systems (TMS, ERP, tracking tools)
- Prepare operational reports (volume, turnaround time, service levels)
- Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, clearance time, and cost efficiency
- Present performance insights to senior management
- Graduate of any 4 year course, Master’s Degree is an davantage
- Minimum 5–10 years experience in freight forwarding/logistics
- At least 3–5 years in a managerial role
Strong experience in:
- Air freight operations
- Ocean freight (FCL/LCL)
- Customs brokerage
- Trucking/last-mile delivery
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations and documentation
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Financial acumen (costing, budgeting, margin analysis)
- Proficiency in logistics systems (TMS, ERP, CargoWise, etc.)
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
