PROGRAM CHAIR FOR ARTS AND DESIGN

Department: Academics
Reporting to: Vice President of Academic Affairs

Location: 5th Floor of Filinvest Cebu Cyberzone Tower 2, Salinas Drive Corner W. Geonzon St., Brgy.Apas, Lahug, Cebu City

Job Description:

The Chairperson is responsible for the delivery of academic programs in accordance with the departmental and college strategic plans and goals; hiring and evaluation of department personnel, to include faculty and staff; and budgeting and resource management.

He/she coordinates departmental activity with the activities of other units in the college and, in collaboration with other members of the administration, assists in the development and implementation of the school’s initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning and Program Development and Assessment
  • Assists the Dean for School of Design and Arts in establishing and maintaining long term vision for the department that is consistent with the school mission and goals.
  • Initiate projects that will help student recruitment, improve student retention and invite professionals to engage with iACADEMY;
  • Plans, implements and evaluates program initiatives, development and innovation.
  • Assesses department’s progress in meeting program goals.
  • Provides technical and intellectual leadership in the field of instruction, research and extension to the members of the faculty.
  • Initiate new academic programs and projects when appropriate.
  • Oversee attaining and maintaining professional accreditation where appropriate.
  1. Academic Program
  • Undertakes regular comprehensive curriculum and syllabus review, revision, and development with the assistance of the faculty members or course specialists.
  • Prepares course offerings, institutes methodologies of instructions, adopt proper textbooks and recommend books to add in the library collection.
  • Coordinates implementation of academic policies and regulations.
  • Prepares the class schedules along with the corresponding faculty and room assignments in close coordination with the different program chairpersons and school deans.
  • Provides regular student consultation regarding academic matters to ensure that students are on track of the learning process.
  • Prepares and writes teaching materials and modules in close coordination with faculty members.
  • Ensures prompt submission and collection of the grades of students at the end of the semester/term for submission to the registrar.
  • Participates in the development of Alumni relations.
  1. People Engagement, Faculty Development and Performance
  • Ensures the efficacy of the faculty in delivering instruction by developing a system of monitoring and evaluation apart from the student evaluation.
  • Monitors and evaluates faculty performance.
  • Fosters professional growth and development of faculty within the department.
  • Works to cultivate a strong and positive school culture by fostering cooperative and collaborative relationships/activities within and with other departments.
  • Recruits, screens and recommends the hiring of faculty members to teach subjects in the department in accordance with established policies.
  • Assigns and manages faculty duties so that equitable workloads are distributed among the faculty.
  • Is responsible for keeping faculty informed of department, college, and institutional plans, policies, activities, and expectations.
  • Monitors the attendance of the faculty in their respective classes.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in personal and professional development and research activities in the discipline.
  • Participates and assists department faculty in community service activities as appropriate.
  • Ensure program documents are organized and regularly updated.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications: Program Chair for Multimedia Arts/Animation Program - Full-Time
  • Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Multimedia Arts, Fine Arts, or any Applied Arts-related Area.
  • Must have at least two (2) years teaching experience.
  • Preferably with work experience in creative industries
