Job Summary

The Purchasing Assistant Manager supports in overseeing procurement activities, supplier management, cost control, and inventory coordination. This role ensures timely purchasing of goods and services while maintaining quality standards and cost efficiency.

The Assistant Manager also supervises purchasing staff and assists in developing procurement strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing daily purchasing operations.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best price and quality.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and production departments.
  • Track deliveries and ensure timely receipt of goods.
  • Review and analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain supplier performance records and resolve issues or discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Assist in budget preparation and cost control initiatives.
  • Supervise and support purchasing staff when required.
  • Prepare reports on procurement activities for management review.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
  • At least 2-3 years in a supervisory or senior purchasing role preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is an advantage.
  • Experience in manufacturing, retail, or relevant industry.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
