Customs CoE - Senior Analyst People Leader
Job Description

Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Philippines office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
The role is responsible for operationally executing and supporting GM US Customs Value Recon methodologies.
What You'll Do
People Leader Role:
- Review the work product of Analyst(s) and track workload outputs
- Providing feedback to Analyst(s) on their work product as well as guiding them through any issues
- Delivering the assessments of Analyst(s) capabilities to the appropriate Leadership Team Members
- Drive valuable projects that will eliminate non-value adding activities
- Frequent contact with others outside of work group to accomplish tasks
- Leading Special Projects to standardize and automate processes (including LEAN/Six Sigma activities)
- Developing deep expertise in the area being supported; includes willingness to work with US Customs counterparts and contacts to enhance knowledge as well as study of GM Policies & Procedures and other external sources.
Operations Role:
- Responsible for operationally executing and supporting GM US Customs Value Recon methodologies
- Provide timely and accurate update on the workload as part of Status Reporting including tracking and monitoring of the team’s overall progress to each task and process.
- Assist the team with their reconciliation inquiries and support all processes.
- Produce schedules, reports, analysis, and other work-product as required.
- Ensures compliance with GM Corporate policies and external regulatory requirements
- Interacts with internal/external related parties to recommend and perform appropriate actions required to mitigate losses and to provide a positive customer experience.
- Has strong control focus – brings any issues (compliance or control related) forward immediately
- Can present to Senior Leadership and consolidating information in a clear and understandable matter.
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)- Excellent knowledge on title 19 - Customs duties (US Code of Federal Regulation) – additionally, continue to attend trainings on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable.
- Systems aptitude is a requirement for this position with knowledge of various GM Systems used in US Customs Value Reconciliation mainly TMSII and Cognos and other sources knowledge necessary for the role – employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality.
- Proficient in Microsoft office tools, computer skills/technology driven that will help adapt and navigate on various GM Systems and Customs related tools.
- Bachelor's degree holder in Customs Administration, Engineering, Finance or any related field of study
- 3 - 5 years relevant experience in Customs operations or import/export industry including shared services environment setting.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, fluency in conversational English is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work on mid-shift, holidays and weekends when needed
- Possess a very high level of integrity - ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify very complex problems, review related information, develop and analyze options, and recommend solutions
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as demonstrated strong interpersonal skills able to communicate with all levels including working with international associates where English is a second language.
- Highly skilled in prioritizing assignments and/or projects with restricted time constraint.
- Positive attitude, self-starter and ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment creating an environment of openness, trust and respect.
