Your Role
As a Medical Coding Supervisor – Inpatient DRG, you will oversee daily coding operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient services.
You will:
- Supervise and support inpatient coding staff, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management
- Monitor workflows to ensure SLAs and KPIs (productivity, accuracy, turnaround time) are met
- Resolve at-risk accounts and coding escalations in line with client policies
- Oversee coding audits and accuracy reviews, ensuring compliance with ICD-10 and CMS/OIG regulations
- Collaborate with CDI, HIM, and Revenue Integrity teams for clean claim generation
- Provide ongoing coder education on updates, documentation changes, and audit findings
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely documentation
What You Need
Non-negotiables:
- Experience: At least 3 years of IP DRG medical coding experience and 1+ year in a supervisory role
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Certification: Active CCS, CIC, or CDIP certification
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, MS-DRG/APR DRG, POA, SOI, and ROM indicators
- Communication: Excellent English communication skills (minimum CEFR B2)
- Systems: Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech
- Licensure: Active PHRN or USRN license
- Tools: Experience with CAC, 3M/Solventum encoders, Tableau, or Power BI
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills
- Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA standards and patient data protection
