Mechanical technician

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment. The role supports production operations by ensuring that machines and mechanical components operate efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, inspect, and maintain mechanical equipment such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and production machinery.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs or part replacements.
• Fabricate or modify mechanical parts as needed using tools such as grinders, welders, and lathes.
• Monitor machine performance and ensure all equipment is operating within acceptable parameters.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance work and repair logs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Assist in equipment installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Coordinate with other departments to support production needs.

Qualifications:

• Technical Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic machining.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physically fit and capable of handling tasks in a factory or production setting.
• Willing to work in shifts, overtime, or weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NC II/III Certificate in Mechanical Maintenance or related field (e.g., TESDA certification).
• Experience in food manufacturing, packaging, or heavy industry is an advantage.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
