Farm Management Trainee

The Farm Management Trainee will undergo a structured training program designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to manage the day-to-day operations of a commercial farm. The trainee will be exposed to various aspects of crop and/or livestock production, equipment operation, farm maintenance, budgeting, team supervision, and compliance with agricultural regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in hands-on training across all areas of farm operations, including planting, harvesting, irrigation, feeding, animal care, and equipment use.
- Assist in supervising seasonal and permanent farm staff to ensure productivity and safety.
- Learn to manage farm inputs (seeds, feed, fertilizers, chemicals) and maintain accurate records.
- Support the implementation of best practices in soil health, animal welfare, pest control, and sustainability.
- Monitor and analyze production data and contribute to decision-making processes.
- Assist with machinery maintenance and facility upkeep.
- Participate in safety training and enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory guidelines.
- Work closely with experienced farm managers to gain leadership and business skills.
- Engage in planning meetings and budgeting processes as part of long-term development.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Animal Science, Crop Science, or related field preferred.
- Relevant internship or work experience in farm operations, agricultural research, or production agriculture is a plus.
- Recent graduates or early-career professionals encouraged to apply.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interest in agriculture and a desire to pursue a career in farm management.
- Willingness to work in rural settings and under varying weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of agricultural equipment and technology.
- Good organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, agri-management software a plus).
