Job Summary:

The Human Resource Manager leads the HR department, develops and implements HR policies, programs, and systems, and ensures legal compliance and alignment with the organization’s mission and talent strategy.

This role requires a strategic, intellectually-curious, technology-forward HR leader who uses HRIS, data, IT systems, spreadsheets, dashboards, and AI-enabled tools to improve recruitment, reporting, compliance, employee relations, training, documentation, and decision-making.

The HR Manager must communicate clearly, lead with conviction and determination, enforce standards consistently, and have the professional firmness or “teeth” necessary to manage discipline, compliance, and accountability while treating employees professionally and respectfully.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains HR department staff.
  • Oversees daily workflow and provides constructive, timely performance evaluations.
  • Leads the HR department with clear authority, sound judgment, professional assertiveness, and the ability to set standards and hold the team accountable.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy and labor laws.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with senior leadership on staffing, recruiting, retention, employee relations, compliance, culture, and organizational development.
  • Plans, develops, and implements HR policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support compliance and strategic HR needs.
  • Administers or oversees HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs and executes best practices for hiring, retention, talent management, succession planning, and workforce planning.
  • Analyzes organizational trends using HRIS, timekeeping, payroll, talent management systems, spreadsheets, dashboards, and other available data sources.
  • Uses technology, AI tools, HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office, dashboards, cloud-based tools, and other IT-enabled systems to improve HR efficiency, accuracy, documentation, reporting, recruitment, training, compliance monitoring, and decision-making.
  • Introduces practical process improvements, automation, digital tracking, and data-driven reporting where appropriate.
  • Monitors employment-law compliance; recommends best practices; updates policies and practices; and communicates relevant regulatory, HR, talent-management, AI, and workplace-technology changes to upper management.
  • Serves as a firm and credible leader in disciplinary matters, employee investigations, performance issues, and policy enforcement, applying rules fairly, consistently, and with proper documentation.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff and performs other duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with senior management, department heads, supervisors, rank-and-file employees, applicants, and external parties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance professionalism, empathy, firmness, and company standards.
  • Strong leadership presence, conviction, determination, and professional assertiveness; able to make difficult decisions, enforce rules, handle conflict, and lead HR with “teeth” when necessary.
  • Firm but fair management style; must not be overly lenient or conflict-avoidant and must hold employees and managers accountable.
  • Strong intellectual ability, business judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills; able to interpret data, identify patterns, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Technology-forward mindset; comfortable using AI tools, HRIS, talent management systems, payroll/timekeeping systems, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, dashboards, cloud-based tools, and other IT applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, prioritization, delegation, adaptability, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong supervisory skills and thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and able to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Industrial Relations, or related field required.
  • At least 10 years of management experience required, including significant human resource management experience and leadership of an HR department or HR team.
  • Experience leading disciplinary cases, employee investigations, terminations, employee relations matters, compliance work, and policy enforcement required.
  • Experience using HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, talent management systems, spreadsheets, dashboards, or AI-enabled productivity tools required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience in FMCG, especially food manufacturing and distribution, is highly preferred.
