Junior Accountant

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a dynamic logistics company whilst working alongside experienced finance professionals.

1. Assisting with the preparation and recording of financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
2. Processing invoices, expense reports and other financial documents with attention to detail and accuracy
3. Supporting the reconciliation of bank statements, general ledger accounts and other balance sheet items
4. Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports for management review
5. Maintaining organised and accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
6. Supporting the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes under the direction of senior accounting staff
7. Responding to audit queries and preparing supporting documentation as required
8. Assisting with tax compliance tasks and the preparation of tax-related documentation
9. Performing data entry and basic analysis to support financial reporting requirements
10. Collaborating with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure accurate financial information

1. A professional accounting qualification or diploma.
2. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work confidently with financial data and spreadsheets
3. Knowledge of basic accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping and the accounting cycle
4. Excellent attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills
5. Well-developed organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively
6. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
7. Professional integrity with a commitment to confidentiality and accuracy in financial matters
8. Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, whether through formal employment, internships or relevant coursework, would be advantageous
9. Experience within the logistics or transportation industry would be beneficial but is not essential
