About the Role
As the Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with Wesco’s tax compliance, audits, tax provision, and tax planning.
Responsibilities- Work with local country accountants based in APAC countries under the supervision of the APAC Tax Manager
- Prepare or review VAT/EWT/FWT/DST returns for Philippine entities
- Provide indirect tax advice to the sales, purchasing, accounts payable, credit, and operations departments
- Handle corporate tax filing for Philippine entities, including providing information to the local tax agent and conducting the first-pass review of tax computations
- Prepare or review provisional tax computations, including permanent vs. temporary items, effective tax rate calculations, quarterly reconciliation of tax accounts, and quarterly and annual tax computations for US reporting purposes
- Assist in handling notices and audits from tax authorities
- Support direct and indirect tax audits
- Liaise with tax agents to obtain local file/transfer pricing documentation, country-by-country reporting, and other mandatory disclosure requirements
- Analyze and implement best practices and internal controls related to tax-sensitive processes
- Contribute as a subject matter expert to projects such as tax health checks and process or tax governance improvements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
- CPA/CA certification preferred
- Experience in the tax field (minimum of 1 year including internships; 2–4 years preferred)
- Knowledge of relevant tax laws, codes, and regulations
- Understanding of accounting principles and their practical application
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding timelines
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and strong analytical skills
- Versatile team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
