JOB DESCRIPTION - Credit Investigator and Appraiser

Location: Iloilo City

Job Summary:

The Credit Investigator and Appraiser is responsible for evaluating creditworthiness and appraising collateral to ensure sound lending decisions. This role involves credit and bank checking, accessing internal and external reports through CIC, NFIS and TransUnion, conducting thorough background checks, site visits, and assessments to mitigate risks and safeguard the company’s financial interests.

Key Responsibilities:

Credit Investigation:

  1. Conduct detailed background investigations on loan applicants, including employment verification, business checks, and character references.
  2. Validate information provided by clients, including financial data, proof of income, and business viability.
  3. Perform field visits to applicants’ residences, workplaces, or business establishments for verification.
  4. Analyze credit histories and payment behaviors using reports from credit bureaus or other financial institutions.
  5. Assess the financial capacity and character of clients to determine their ability to meet financial obligations.

Appraisal:

  1. Inspect and appraise the value of proposed collateral, such as real estate, vehicles, and other assets.
  2. Prepare accurate appraisal reports with detailed documentation and photographs of the collateral.
  3. Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and market valuation benchmarks.
  4. Maintain an updated database of market values for various types of collateral.

Reporting and Decision Support:

  1. Submit timely and comprehensive reports to the credit evaluation team or loan committee.
  2. Recommend approval, modification, or denial of loan applications based on investigation and appraisal findings.
  3. Provide insights and risk assessments to guide decision-making processes.

Compliance and Documentation:

  1. Ensure all documents and reports adhere to company policies, government regulations, and industry standards.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of client information and records.
  3. Keep abreast of market trends, regulatory updates, and appraisal techniques.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years experience in credit investigation, appraisal, or a similar role in the financing or banking industry.
  3. Knowledge of credit evaluation processes, appraisal methods, and market valuation techniques.
  4. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and credit evaluation tools.
  6. Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork as required.
  7. Familiarity with local market trends and regulations in the Philippines is an advantage.
