Job Title: Quality Control Specialist

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Specialist plays a vital role in our team, working closely with the Quality Assurance Officer to ensure the quality and safety of our bread and pastry products.

This position focuses on in-process and in-line quality checks, involving regular inspections, performing quality tests, monitoring production processes, and enforcing quality control procedures on the production floor.

Additionally, the role includes process validation and equipment validation in connection with research and development and product standardization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality control principles, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular in-process and in-line inspections of raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform various quality tests, including sensory evaluations, physical measurements, and chemical analyses, to assess product quality at various stages of production.
  • Proactively monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues in real-time and implement corrective actions on the production floor.
  • Enforce quality control procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout the production area, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality control activities, test results, and any deviations from standards, providing timely feedback to the QA Officer.
  • Collaborate closely with production staff to address quality concerns and implement improvements, acting as a liaison between production and quality assurance.
  • Escalate any significant quality deviations or potential food safety risks to the Quality Assurance Officer immediately.
  • Assist in investigating customer complaints related to product quality and work towards resolution, contributing to root cause analysis.
  • Stay up-to-date on food safety regulations and industry best practices, sharing knowledge with the production team.
  • Participate in internal and external audits related to quality and food safety, contributing to audit preparedness and follow-up.
  • Calibrate and maintain quality control equipment used in production.
  • Assist in developing and revising quality control procedures and documentation, offering insights from the production floor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field preferred. A combination of relevant experience and an Associate's degree in a related field will be considered.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in quality control within the food manufacturing industry, preferably in a bakery or commissary setting. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP), quality control principles, and sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in food testing.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills, especially in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate quality-related information to production staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • License as a Chemical Technician is a plus.
