A Dialysis Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients with kidney failure who require dialysis treatment. They monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis procedures and ensure safe and effective treatment delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and operate dialysis machines and related equipment
- Assess patients’ condition before, during, and after dialysis treatment
- Monitor vital signs and observe for complications or adverse reactions
- Administer medications as prescribed
- Insert and manage vascular access such as fistulas, grafts, or catheters
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation
- Educate patients and families about dialysis care, diet, medications, and lifestyle changes
- Coordinate with doctors and healthcare teams regarding patient care plans
- Ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed
- Respond to emergencies during dialysis treatment
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Dialysis training or certification is an advantage
- Experience in nephrology or dialysis care preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Good communication and patient care skills
- Prior experience as a Charge Nurse or Senior Nurse is an advantage
