The Opportunity - SaaS solutions for the Energy Industry

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager with deep knowledge of the Selling and support leading edge SaaS Solutions to drive growth and strategic partnerships for our Energy Sector SaaS product suite.

You will be leading a new application for energy industry participants, to enable innovative value delivery to electricity generators, retailers and project owners. You’ll be comfortable expressing and selling your value proposition to corporate and procurement and technical specialist teams.

You will enjoy driving innovation and implementing innovative solutions to known business problems -taking worldclass approaches to unlock customer benefits.

The ideal candidate will have a solid track record including SaaS or software sales, pre and post sales customer engagements. Selling is a key but customer usage is the goal.

You will need to be a fantastic communicator and presenter and problem solver. This role is more than just running power point presentations, its leading our customer engagement lifecycle with pre and post sales teams for our customer’s solution rollout and helping your customers realize the value you bring to their business.

The Role

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving the company’s growth in the SaaS sector by identifying new market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and leading end-to-end client acquisition and deal execution across wholesale energy markets.

You will be not selling to general business or corporate, but to a limited set of preidentified industry participants and industry stakeholders.

You will provide leadership and mentorship to pre and post sales team members, whilst targeting the successful use our solution to benefit customers and the industry in general.

Key Responsibilities

Market Development & Strategy:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies to increase market share in wholesale and retail energy.

Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with large industrial customers, distribution utilities, electric cooperatives, and government agencies.
  • Lead contract negotiations, PPAs, and energy supply agreements.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders in the wholesale market.

Partnerships & Alliances:

  • Forge strategic partnerships with generation and retailer companies.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Mentor junior business development staff and work cross-functionally with regulatory, legal, and technical teams.
  • Lead both pre and post sales customer engagements. You are the point person for all Customer Engagements.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of solid experience in corporate sales, business development, or commercial roles, preferably within the SaaS or Software solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate and convert new business opportunities in a competitive, relationship-driven market.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess market trends, regulatory changes, and their impact on business opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior executives, utilities, industrial clients, and government counterparts.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data and market intelligence into actionable strategies.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms and advanced Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for deal tracking and commercial reporting.
  • Entrepreneurial and results-driven mindset, with a strong bias for execution, innovation, and business growth.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-performance environment, leading initiatives from origination through to deal execution while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams (trading, legal, regulatory, risk, and operations).
