Responsibilities
- Health and Safety Management
- Implement, monitor, and enforce safety programs and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine causes and prevent recurrence, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Develop and oversee compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to legal requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, external auditors, and industry bodies to address compliance issues and stay informed on emerging regulations.
- Training and Awareness
- Educate employees on safety practices, compliance obligations, and ethical standards.
- Establish and maintain training programs, track completion, and ensure staff understand their responsibilities in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, audits, and compliance activities.
- Prepare reports for management or executive leadership teams, highlighting areas of non-compliance and recommending improvements.
- Collaboration and Advisory
- Work closely with management, facilities teams, and other departments to integrate safety and compliance into operational processes;
- Provide guidance on risk management, policy implementation, and regulatory adherence.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Extensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental laws, as well as industry-specific compliance standards;
- Analytical and Observational Skills: Ability to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to convey safety procedures, compliance requirements, and training effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Capability to address non-compliance issues and implement corrective measures efficiently.
- Education and Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Health and Safety, or a related filed, along with experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs. Professional certifications in safety or compliance may be preferred.
