Forklift Operator

Scope and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate forklifts to transport various materials and products throughout the warehouse, ensuring adherence to all operational safety standards.
• Maneuver forklifts in confined spaces and high-traffic areas, demonstrating proficiency in controlling speed and direction to prevent accidents.
• Utilize different types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, pallet jacks) based on the operational requirements and load types.
• Efficiently load and unload materials from delivery trucks and containers, ensuring the correct placement of items in designated storage areas.
• Assess weight distribution when loading and unloading to ensure safe handling and transport of goods.
• Coordinate with truck drivers and warehouse staff to ensure timely and accurate transfer of goods, minimizing delays.
• Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections of forklifts, checking for any mechanical issues or safety concerns, and ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules.
• Maintain forklifts and other equipment in good working order, performing routine maintenance tasks such as refueling, battery checks, and fluid levels.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or maintenance needs to the Warehouse Supervisor immediately for prompt resolution.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and conducting safe lifting practices.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all areas of the warehouse, including aisles and exits, are clear of obstructions and hazards.
• Participate in safety training programs and drills, and actively promote a culture of safety among team members.
• Assist in training new forklift operators and warehouse staff on safe operating procedures, equipment handling, and inventory management practices.
• Collaborate with team members to streamline workflow processes and improve overall warehouse efficiency, actively participating in team meetings and discussions.
• Provide support to other warehouse staff as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork to achieve common goals.

• Assist in managing inventory levels by conducting regular inventory counts and cycle counts to ensure accuracy and accountability of stock.
• Organize and categorize inventory in the warehouse to facilitate easy retrieval and optimal space utilization, ensuring first-in-first-out (FIFO) principles are followed where applicable.
• Support warehouse operations and inventory operations management activities as needed

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the PCP team and ensure efficient operations.
• Assist with special projects or initiatives related to PCP team as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Vocational course equivalent in warehouse or inventory management is preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or similar industrial setting.
• Experience in loading, unloading, and transporting various types of materials, ensuring safe handling practices.
• Familiarity with inventory control processes, including stock counting, organizing, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Hands-on experience with conducting routine inspections and basic maintenance of forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
• Demonstrated adherence to safety protocols and a track record of maintaining a safe work environment in previous roles.
• Experience in completing necessary documentation related to inventory movements, equipment inspections, and reporting operational issues.
• History of working effectively in a team-oriented environment, coordinating with colleagues and supervisors to achieve operational goals.
