Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor/Estimator (SMP) to support our Australian client within the heavy industrial sectors, including mining, oil & gas, and engineering construction. This role is pivotal in accurately measuring, verifying, and estimating construction quantities and associated costs across structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical disciplines.
The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting detailed engineering drawings, performing weld mapping, conducting re-measurements, and supporting cost validation and variation claims. This position requires a deep understanding of contract execution, pricing mechanisms, and multidisciplinary estimating, particularly within steel and piping fabrication environments.
This role demands precision, analytical strength, and a proactive approach to ensuring that all quantity and cost data support project scope and change management. It also involves collaborating closely with engineering, fabrication, and project controls teams to deliver timely, accurate data that drive successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measuring and verification of design, Bill of Quantities, construction quantities and associated cost in structural steel, mechanical, piping and electrical installation works.
- Understand, interpret and translate detailed engineering drawings for purposes of quantity measurement in line with the Contract.
- Understanding of Contract Execution, being able to interpret the Contract pricing schedule, pricing preambles, and understand the mechanisms for change management.
- Provide data for compilation of quantity increase or decrease variation claims plus Identification of new contract items.
- Conduct shiploader re-measures to ensure scope accuracy and support cost validation.
- Perform weld mapping to track fabrication progress and assist with quality and cost assessments
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the management or the client to support the organization’s operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is desirable
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying/Estimating experience preferably within the heavy industrial sectors (Engineering and Construction, Mining, Oil & Gas, Onshore/Offshore, Refinery)
- Experience in a multidisciplinary environment – Structural, Mechanical, Piping.
- Demonstrated experience with tendering/estimating on all types of fabrication, including pipework, structural steel, chutes, hoppers & tanks, using a wide range of materials from carbon steel, stainless steel, super duplex, titanium & alloy nickels, electrical and instrumentation.
- Skilled in weld mapping and shiploader re-measures.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy is required.
- Familiarity with Australian standards and/or prior overseas project exposure is an advantage
- Proficient in Navisworks/ 3D Modelling software, PDF Acrobat, MS Office Suite (particularly Word & Excel).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for cost tracking, estimates, and reporting
- Consistent ability to meet deadlines and support operational targets with 100% task completion
- Must be willing to report onsite at
Arcovia City, Brgy. Ugong, Pasig City (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm).
