The Insurance Claims Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to an insurance company's claims department. This role involves assisting claims adjusters and managers with the processing, documentation, and management of insurance claims.

The Insurance Claims Assistant ensures that all claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong customer service abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review incoming insurance claims for completeness and accuracy.
  • Enter and update claim information in the claims management system.
  • Communicate with policyholders, claimants, and service providers to gather necessary documentation and information.
  • Prepare and process claim forms, correspondence, and reports.
  • Assist claims adjusters and examiners in investigating and resolving claims.
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic claim files.
  • Monitor the status of open claims and follow up on outstanding documentation.
  • Respond to routine inquiries regarding claim status and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., underwriting, customer service) as needed.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as scanning, copying, and filing documents.
  • Support the team in special projects or during periods of high claim volume.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior experience in insurance or claims processing is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with office software and claims management systems
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
