The Legal Assistant/ Paralegal provides substantive legal support to lawyers by assisting in legal research, document preparation, case management, and coordination of legal matters. The role involves handling legal work that supports the practice of law under the supervision of licensed attorneys, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with firm standards and legal procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct legal research on laws, jurisprudence, rules, regulations, and legal precedents
- Draft and assist in the preparation of legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, affidavits, legal memoranda, and position papers for lawyer review
- Assist lawyers in case preparation, including organizing case files, evidence, and supporting documents
- Monitor and track case deadlines, court schedules, and filing requirements
- Coordinate with courts, government agencies, opposing counsel, and clients on procedural and administrative matters (under lawyer supervision)
- Prepare case summaries, chronologies, and document indexes
- Assist in due diligence, contract review, and corporate documentation (e.g., SEC filings, board resolutions, GIS, permits)
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files
- Support lawyers during hearings, trials, or meetings when required
- Assist in billing, timekeeping, and administrative tasks related to legal matters
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, confidentiality rules, and professional standards
Qualifications/Requirements
Education- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Management, Paralegal Studies, Political Science, or a related field
- Completion of paralegal training or certification is an advantage
- At least 1–3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal staff in a law firm or legal environment
- Experience in litigation, corporate, or regulatory work is an advantage
- Strong legal research and analytical skills
- Good drafting and proofreading skills
- Familiarity with court procedures, legal terminology, and legal documentation
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet strict deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with legal research tools is an advantage
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work under lawyer supervision
- Detail oriented, reliable, and highly organized
- Professional, discreet, and trustworthy
- Willing to learn and take on increasing responsibility
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with lawyers and staff
- Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
