About the Role: The Junior VDI Administrator will provide VDI administration as well as support and infrastructure expertise for systems globally. Transition end users to a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. Leverage experience with VDI and application virtualization in implementing VDI in a Windows 10 desktop environment.
The Junior VDI Administrator will be responsible for ensuring that systems are functioning properly, within the design and security specifications established by IT and that all applicable policies, processes, and procedures are properly communicated and followed.

The Junior VDI Administrator will also be responsible for evaluating new technologies and participating in proof of concepts and working with the wider IT team to ensure project deadlines are met. This position reports to the Global VDI Manager and is a key position within the Infrastructure Services (IS) group which is responsible for providing technical support to Citco business groups

Job Duties in Brie f
  • Support our VDI installations, where necessary providing level 1 and level 2 support to our operations teams (End users)
  • Assist with the migration of staff from physical to virtual desktops in Microsoft Azure on VMware Horizon Cloud.
  • Lead exercises to troubleshoot and optimize our VDI environments
  • Coordinate the input of service providers and partners to ensure delivery and support of key systems
  • Partner with applications, platform, infrastructure and applications teams to design and build environments to best deliver our business functionality across the company
  • At all times maintain the compliant status of our systems - ensuring the maintenance of the qualified state of all appropriate systems and compliant practices throughout the applications portfolio
  • Liaise and partner extensively with the various support functions in the successful transition of developed solutions into BAU running mode
  • Strong partnership with Wintel admin team as VDI sits on the wintel infrastructure
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, requests and coordinate/implement scheduled changes, including operating systems, telecoms and enterprise software applications.
  • To take ownership of issues by carrying out incident analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes with the aim of restoring service to the customer as soon as possible; escalating incidents to other support teams where necessary.
  • To accurately record, update and document incidents and requests in the Service Desk ticketing system.
  • To maintain a first class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Maintain excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in the organization.

About You

The successful candidate is an experienced and energetic contributor, with the ability to build Customer relationships, while driving alignment and strategy in the Customer Support IT group. You can impact both day-to-day service delivery and Customer Support management and long-term structural group alignment and strategy definition.

Mature communicator, with the ability to effectively convey information of a technical nature to non-technical audiences.

Experience and Technical Skills
  • Experience working in a VMware environment.
  • Experience supporting the VDI infrastructure in a customer focussed or client centric environment
  • Experience with VMware desktop and application virtualization in support of shared service and virtualized desktop solutions
  • Desired - Experience with virtual imaging, packaging and automated software distribution tools and qualities.
  • Desired - Assisting in VDI rollouts
  • Desired - Experience with VMWare horizon view (6/7) & thin client/VDI laptop hardware configuration
