Cost Engineer Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates for projects.
• Analyze project requirements to forecast budgets and track actual costs against estimates.
• Monitor and report on project costs, variances, and budget performance.
• Work with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to control and reduce costs.
• Prepare cost reports, cash flow projections, and financial forecasts.
• Support bid and tendering processes by providing cost data and insights.
• Assist in value engineering and risk analysis.
• Use cost management software and tools (e.g., Primavera, SAP, CostX).
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, standards, and contractual obligations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in cost estimating or project controls (2–5 years typically).
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Proficiency with cost engineering tools and Microsoft Excel.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
