Systems Operations Engineer- Infra Operations

JOB PURPOSE

The engineer proactively identifies and resolves infrastructure issues, implements operational best practices, and collaborates with internal teams and vendors to maintain a reliable, secure, and highly available IT environment aligned with business objectives and service level agreements (SLAs).

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Infrastructure – Systems Operations Engineer- Infra Operations, has responsibilities in the following areas:

• Monitor and maintain servers, networks, storage, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure.
• Ensure infrastructure availability, reliability, and performance targets are achieved.
• Perform routine health checks and preventive maintenance.

• Administer Windows and Linux servers.
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and user access.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain infrastructure systems.

• Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents and outages.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues.
• Escalate issues to vendors or support teams when necessary.

• Deploy security patches, hotfixes, and firmware updates.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and policies.
• Manage endpoint protection and infrastructure security controls.

• Monitor backup jobs and recovery processes.
• Support disaster recovery testing and business continuity activities.
• Validate recoverability of critical systems.

• Support LAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, and network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
• Change Management
• Implement approved infrastructure changes.
• Follow ITIL-based change management processes.
• Assess risks and minimize operational impact.

• Utilize monitoring tools to identify issues proactively.
• Generate infrastructure performance and availability reports.
• Provide operational metrics to management.

• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Update infrastructure diagrams, runbooks, and knowledge articles.

• Participate in infrastructure deployment, migration, and upgrade projects.
• Provide technical support during implementations.

• Provide after-hours operational support.
• Respond to critical incidents and service disruptions.

Preferred but not required

• Develop PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripts.
• Implement automation using Ansible, Terraform, or AWS & Alibaba Automation.
• Eliminate repetitive operational tasks through automation

• Optimize Alibaba, AWS resources.
• Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

• Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Recommend infrastructure enhancements and technology upgrades.
• Improve service reliability and operational efficiency

• Support security audits and compliance assessments.
• Implement security hardening and vulnerability remediation.
• Assist in SIEM and advanced threat monitoring activities.

• Manage clustering and failover technologies.
• Support load balancing and redundancy solutions.
• Improve infrastructure resilience and fault tolerance.

• Coordinate with vendors on support and maintenance activities.
• Track vendor SLAs and service commitments.
• Participate in technical reviews with third-party providers.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Contribute to operational excellence initiatives.
• Recommend new technologies and best practices.

• Mentor junior engineers.
• Develop operational standards and best practices.
• Lead technical discussions and knowledge-transfer sessions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Information technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering
• or a related field
• Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
