I. Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of the company’s financial operations. This position is primarily responsible for Philippine tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and pricing support, with a strong emphasis on BIR-related filings and financial market monitoring.The Accounting Specialist serves as a key partner to the Finance team, providing expertise in tax laws, accounting standards, and pricing analysis to support business decisions and ensure full compliance with government regulations.
II. Key Responsibilities- Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare, compute, and electronically file (via EFPS) all required tax returns, including:
- Quarterly Income Tax Return
- Monthly Withholding Tax on Compensation
- Final Withholding Taxes & Expanded Withholding Taxes (BIR 1601-F, 1601-E, etc.)
- Monitor and ensure timely filing of all monthly, quarterly, and annual BIR obligations within prescribed deadlines.
- Prepare and submit SAWT (Summary Alphalist of Withholding Tax) reports and generate Alphalist of Payees for BIR Form Nos. 1604E and 1601E.
- Ensure full compliance with BIR Alphalist Data Entry and Validation Module requirements.
- Maintain updated knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR rulings, and regulations to ensure accurate and compliant filings.
- Pricing & Market Monitoring
- Perform daily monitoring of Forex and Bloomberg rates for Trigger Pricing and Fuel Pricing computations.
- Support the Pricing team in aligning strategies with market fluctuations while ensuring compliance with internal policies.
- Provide financial data and analysis for management decisions relating to product costing and price adjustments.
- Accounting & Reporting Support
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate recognition of tax and regulatory obligations.
- Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for audits (internal, external, and BIR).
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of tax records, reports, and government correspondences.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with Procurement, Treasury, and other business units to ensure proper application of tax and accounting requirements in business transactions.
- Provide technical guidance on Philippine taxation and regulatory compliance to other departments as needed.
III. Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or Finance.
- CPA license is preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of solid experience in Philippine tax compliance, government filings, and accounting within a corporate environment.
- Strong background in BIR electronic filing systems (EFPS), Alphalist validation, and government reportorial requirements.
- Experience in a multinational company or fuel/energy industry is an advantage.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of Philippine taxation laws, BIR procedures, and local financial reporting standards (PFRS).
- Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems (e.g., invoice posting, AP/AR, journal entries).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and market trends.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, both written and verbal.
