A Baker is responsible for creating a variety of baked goods, including breads, pastries, and cakes, by following established recipes and maintaining high standards of food safety. In industrial settings like Virginia Food, Inc., bakers often work in large-scale production environments focusing on consistency and high volume.
Core Responsibilities
Production: Prepare, mix, and bake breads, pastries, rolls, and desserts using commercial-grade equipment like large mixers, proofers, and industrial ovens.
Recipe Adherence: Accurately measure and weigh ingredients (flour, sugar, yeast) according to specific formulas to ensure product consistency.Quality Control: Monitor baking times and temperatures, and inspect finished products for quality, texture, and appearance.
Sanitization: Clean and sanitize workstations and specialized equipment (e.g., bread slicers, dough sheeters) to comply with HACCP and GMP food safety standards.
Inventory Management: Track stock levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting shortages to supervisors to ensure uninterrupted production.
Finishing: Apply icings, glazes, and decorations to pastries and cakes to enhance presentation.
Qualifications/Requirements
At least a high school graduate With experience in the related field is an advantage
