About the Job:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Working closely with the bookkeeper and assistant manager, this role is responsible for overseeing monthly closings, balance sheet reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.The position involves reviewing staff work, supporting audits and SEC reporting, and applying advanced accounting standards such as ASC 842 and ASC 606. The Senior Accountant will also contribute to process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and provide research-based solutions to complex accounting issues.
What You’ll Do
The Senior Accountant will work closely with the bookkeeper and assistant manager, with responsibilities that include:
- Assisting with SEC audit and review preparation (SEC experience a plus)
- Managing monthly financial closings and balance sheet reconciliations
- Reviewing staff work to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Supporting accounting procedures, accrual accounting, prepaids, deferred revenue, and notes payable
- Applying knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting and ASC 606 revenue recognition (preferred)
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including disclosures for audit, review, and compilation engagements
- Assessing and improving financial processes and internal controls (a plus)
- Researching and interpreting accounting and financial data to resolve client questions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- Candidates should possess 4–5 years of relevant experience, preferably acquired from one of the Top 10 accounting firms in the United States.
- Knowledge of SEC reporting; smaller reporting company experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of debt and equity transactions
- Solid knowledge of GAAP; IFRS experience is also acceptable
- Proven ability to prepare financial statements and related notes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
- Excellent project management and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
