Job Summary: The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

This role promotes a safe and healthy workplace, minimizes environmental impact, reduces occupational risks, and fosters a strong safety culture across the organization. The EHS Manager leads risk assessments, incident investigations, regulatory reporting, employee training, and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence and protect employees, contractors, visitors, and the environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Emergency Preparedness: Ensures that the company has an integrated, effective and responsive emergency preparedness program that is considered within the highest quality standards and in accordance to government compliance rule. Responsible for the training and outfitting of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Workplace Management: Ensures that the company consistently maintains the highest standards of workplace safety. Conducts effective program inspections to ensure that the workplace, facilities and equipment are safe.
  • Safety Rules and Regulations: Ensures that the company is equipped with the current and correct safety and health rules in order to comply with government standards and to meet the short and the long term company plans. Works closely with the General Manager and individual employees to develop and implement safety and health programs to ensure employee effectiveness.
  • Accident and Incident Reporting: Ensures management that all plant wide accidents and incidents are properly reported, coordinated and recorded in accordance to PMD’s Integrated Management System and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • EHS Education System: Ensures that all PMD employees are properly trained, drilled and evaluated on safety and health policies, techniques and procedures. Ensure proper communication of safety incidents and corrective actions.
  • ISO 14001 / 45001 Compliance: Ensures company and employee compliance with every aspect of the ISO 45001 & 14001 standard.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Engineering or EHS discipline with preference to a Master degree. Minimum a SO4 safety officer.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years safety and health work experience with at least four (4) years in a safety and health program development and implementation.
  • Experience as Safety Management Leader will be a plus. Experience in a manufacturing company located in the Philippines is required.
  • Must be capable of managing upwards and laterally throughout the business organization.
  • Experience with working with functional corporate partners is good to have for this position.

Strong level of familiarity with the EHS laws, codes and practices of the Philippines, as well as the EHS requirements of Coherent or other multinational companies.
