Job Title: Project Manager – Solar PV Installation

Job Summary

The Project Manager – Solar PV Installation is responsible for the end-to-end execution of solar energy projects, from planning and design coordination through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical, safety, and regulatory standards.

1. Project Planning & Coordination

• Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, and milestones.
• Review system design (electrical, structural, civil) for constructability.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Define scope of work and project deliverables.

1. Technical Oversight

• Ensure compliance with design drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Validate cable sizing, protection systems, and equipment selection.
• Supervise installation of:

o PV modules, mounting systems

o Inverters, combiner boxes, transformers

• Resolve technical issues during construction.

1. Procurement & Logistics

• Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
• Verify quantities (BOM) against design and site requirements.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of solar equipment.

1. Construction Management

• Oversee daily site activities and workforce deployment.
• Monitor installation progress versus schedule.
• Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to method statements.
• Conduct site inspections and progress reporting.

1. Health, Safety, and Compliance

• Enforce safety policies and procedures on-site.
• Ensure compliance with:

o Local electrical codes (e.g., PEC)

o Utility interconnection requirements

• Conduct toolbox meetings and safety audits.

1. Cost Control & Budget Management

• Monitor project costs and prevent overruns.
• Track variations, change orders, and claims.
• Optimize resource allocation and productivity.

1. Testing & Commissioning

• Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Verify system performance (IV curve, insulation resistance, etc.).
• Coordinate with utility for grid interconnection.
• Ensure proper documentation and as-built drawings.

1. Client & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients.
• Provide regular project updates and reports.
• Manage expectations and resolve project-related issues.

1. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain project documentation:

o Daily reports

o Progress reports

• Prepare turnover documents and O&M manuals.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Electrical Engineer (preferred).
• 4+ years’ experience in solar PV or power projects.
• Strong knowledge of:

o Solar PV systems (utility-scale preferred)

o Electrical systems (LV/MV)

o Project management methodologies

• Project scheduling (e.g., MS Project, Gantt)
• Technical problem-solving in solar systems
• Leadership and team management
• Cost estimation and budget control
• Communication and stakeholder management

• Project completion on time and within budget
• System performance vs. design output
• Safety compliance (zero accidents/incidents)
• Quality metrics (minimal rework/defects)
• Client satisfaction
