Job Description :

• Mainframe DB2 System Programmer

Job Summary:

• The Mainframe DB2 System Programmer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of DB2 databases on z/OS environments.
• This role involves ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of DB2 systems

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, upgrade, maintain, and customize DB2 and its associated IBM and third-party software.
• Create, modify, and maintain DB2 databases on z/OS environments.
• Monitor DB2 systems and take necessary actions to ensure optimal performance.
• Provide technical system support for DB2 subsystems, database tools, and utilities.
• Support DB2 business, end-user, and application requirements.
• Perform regular housekeeping activities, such as monitoring disk space and DB2 logs, backups, and data integrity protection.
• Review data models for technical accuracy and enforce modeling and naming standards.
• Perform structural changes to DB2 databases.
• Implement and maintain DB2 security standards.
• Develop and maintain DB2 disaster recovery procedures.
• Assist developers in debugging DB2-related issues and provide technical support.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Provide 24x7 on-call support as required for DB2 systems.
• Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration of DB2 with other systems.
• Create and maintain documentation on DB2 system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and systems integrity standards.
• Highlight areas for improvement in current processes and implement enhancements.

Qualifications:

• At least 8-10 years of experience as DB2 System Administrator on z/OS.
• Strong technical expertise in DB2 on z/OS environments.
• Proficiency in DB2 SQL performance tuning and database maintenance.
• Familiarity with IBM utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD) and performance monitoring tools (e.g., IBM Omegamon, CA Insight, BMC Mainview).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• DB2 System Administrator on z/OS.
• DB2 SQL performance tuning and database maintenance.
• Number of years experiences needed: 8-10 years.
