Job Summary:

The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting the finance department with day-to-day accounting functions, including processing transactions, reconciling accounts, assisting with inventory costing, and maintaining accurate financial records.

The role plays a vital part in tracking and managing the financial performance of the company’s distribution operations across salt, chemicals, and rice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Accounting:
  • Prepare and post journal entries for revenue, expenses, and other financial transactions.
  • Maintain the general ledger and assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Reconcile bank statements and company accounts regularly.
  1. Accounts Payable & Receivable:
  • Process vendor invoices, ensure proper documentation, and schedule timely payments.
  • Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Assist in preparing aging reports and cash flow forecasts.
  1. Inventory and Cost Accounting:
  • Assist with inventory reconciliation for salt, chemicals, and rice.
  • Support in tracking product movement between warehouses and customer locations.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate stock levels and cost records.
  1. Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Help compile internal and external audit requirements.
  • Support compliance with relevant tax laws and company policies.
  1. Documentation and Compliance:
  • Maintain organized records for purchases, sales, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Assist with government reporting and industry-specific compliance (e.g., import/export documentation for chemicals and rice).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a distribution, trading, or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Knowledge of inventory and cost accounting is a plus.
  • Understanding of taxation, especially VAT and withholding tax, is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
