Assistant pharmacist

Job Description

• Responsible for counterchecking prescriptions, accurate and promptly dispensing of medications and providing patients with the proper medication counselling
• Maintaining clean working environment in the pharmacy and drug reconstitution room following established policies, procedures and objectives including safety, environmental and/or infection control standards
• Adheres to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice
• Verify and receive pharmaceutical drug and supplies deliveries that pass quality and standard
• Ensuring that the quality if medicines is maintained through proper handling and storage
• Review and perform proper reconstitution of chemotherapy medications
• Conduct medication error reporting and root cause analysis to improve safety as a pharmacovigilance officer
• Conducts monthly inventory of pharmaceutical products in the pharmacy, storage, and clinical areas
• Billing of Pharmacy and Chemotherapy transactions
• Ensure proper functioning and clean equipment used in the pharmacy and drug reconstitution room. Reports to Department Manager any malfunctioning equipment
• Stay informed with new pharmacological knowledge by attending seminars and workshops
• Provide drug information to doctors, nurses, and other health care team
• Prepare treatment costing for patient assistance programs
• Prepare monthly reports as assigned
• Perform other administrative tasks and job-related duties assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

In-depth understanding of the properties, effects, and mechanisms of action of medications.
