CIVIL ENGINEER LABORATORY COORDINATOR

To ensure proper implementation of laboratory policies and provide assistance to faculty and students in their utilization of laboratory facilities.

DUTIES:

• Assists the immediate superior in the implementation of laboratory course requirement including equipment, requirements, and work plans.
• Prepares, set-ups, and operates laboratory equipment and machines for each laboratory courses.
• Promotes safety in the laboratory:
• Be alert for potentially unsafe behavior, practices, set-ups, and situations, and correct them; or bring them to the attention of the laboratory supervisor if you are unsure of the procedures to be used.
• Enforce proper usage of all equipment in the laboratory such as:
• Safety goggles,
• Proper handling of chemical spills
• Proper handling of broken glassware
• Proper collection of chemical waste disposal
• Proper disposal of non-hazardous laboratory waste
• Monitors strictly the usage of the equipment and records all laboratory activities such as those who borrowed equipment, those that are dispensed and all the materials returned.
• Prepares daily utilization report in the usage/borrowed equipment; monthly inventory report and the end of semester equipment inventory report.
• Strictly schedules and implements preventive and corrective maintenance for all applicable laboratory machines, equipment, and facilities.
• Assists and supports the faculty by providing student with basic assistance in using computer software, machines, and equipment during laboratory hours.
• Checks and attests all laboratory equipment before and after the experiment.
• Conducts weekly physical inventory of all the equipment and ensures that all of it are secured and in good condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed Civil Engineer
• Strong knowledge in laboratory safety, operation of laboratory equipment
