Job Information
Job Description- Auxiliary Engines: Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the diesel generators, which provide all electrical power to the ship.
- Boilers & Purifiers: Oversees the ship's steam boilers and fuel/lube oil purifiers (centrifuges) that clean the fuel before it reaches the engines.
- Pumps & Air Compressors: Maintains various pumps (ballast, fire, bilge) and the air compressors used for starting the main engine.
- Watchkeeping: Typically stands the 08:00–12:00 and 20:00–24:00 engine room watches. They monitor temperatures, pressures, and fluid levels, responding immediately to any machinery alarms.
- Bunkering: Assists the Chief and Second Engineer during fuel oil transfer (bunkering) operations, specifically monitoring tank levels to prevent overflows.
- Safety Equipment: Often assists in maintaining lifeboats, emergency fire pumps, and the ship's sewage treatment plant.
Skills and Qualifications:
AT LEAST 18 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS 3RD ENGINEER
WITH OR WITHOUT VALID US VISA
HOLDING VALID DOCUMENTS
