AI Application Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an AI-first Application Engineer to join our growing team.

This is not a traditional software developer role. You'll work alongside our Solutions Architect to build custom business software for Australian companies using modern AI-assisted development tools, primarily Claude Code.

We're looking for someone who embraces AI, understands modern software engineering, and can consistently deliver high-quality work while following structured processes and standards.

Technologies:

• Claude Code (daily use)
• React
• Next.js
• TypeScript
• Tailwind CSS
• Git / GitHub
• PostgreSQL / Supabase (desirable)

What You'll Do:

• Implement features using Claude Code.
• Build responsive React and Next.js applications.
• Fix bugs and improve existing systems.
• Write clean, maintainable TypeScript.
• Write and maintain automated tests.
• Update technical documentation.
• Follow established engineering standards and workflows.
• Raise pull requests for review.
• Communicate blockers early.
• Continuously improve development processes.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong React experience.
• Strong Next.js experience.
• Strong TypeScript experience.
• Experience using AI coding tools daily (Claude Code preferred).
• Comfortable working independently.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Able to follow documented processes precisely.
• Able to accept and implement feedback quickly.

Highly Desirable:

• Claude Code experience.
• Cursor or Windsurf experience.
• Supabase.
• PostgreSQL.
• Vercel.
• GitHub Actions.
• Experience building internal business systems.
• Experience working with Australian clients.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first few months you will be able to:

• Deliver production-ready features independently.
• Produce clean pull requests requiring minimal rework.
• Consistently follow our engineering standards.
• Use AI effectively without blindly accepting its output.
• Identify problems before they become issues.
• Help improve our AI development workflows.
