THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a leading insurance group with over 110 years of experience managing workers’ insurance and compensation claims. They partner with employers, medical providers, and industry stakeholders to deliver market-leading return-to-work outcomes and safe work initiatives.
As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their Manila-based team on a hybrid work setup. This is an entry-level accounting role that plays a key role in the timely and accurate reporting of financials, ensuring well-documented processes, maintaining general ledger accounts, and identifying opportunities for improvement.The role also supports effective communication and collaboration with the Sydney financial reporting team, ensures compliance with control activities, engages with internal and external auditors, and helps maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
The position follows a hybrid schedule, with two days onsite and three days working from home. The role is based in BGC, Taguig, with work hours from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM PHT.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist in month-end closing and preparation of timely, accurate financial reports.
- Maintain clean and reconciled general ledger accounts.
- Collaborate with the Sydney Financial Reporting team for reporting and audit support.
- Provide key financial data and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Identify and recommend process improvements for reporting and system efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Prepare key financial schedules as needed by management.
- Maintain clear documentation of financial processes and systems.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Support a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification is an advantage
- 1–3 years of experience in general accounting
- Hands-on experience in bank reconciliation, journal entry preparation and posting, and managing high volumes of daily transactions
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing
- Proficient in financial analysis and interpreting accounting data to support business decisions
- Basic to Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Workday or similar ERP systems is preferred
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external working relationships
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic and solution-oriented mindset
