I Section Management
  • Operations Planning
  • Identifies and proposes the goals of the Section, in alignment with the mandate of the
  • Rizal Library
  • Oversees the implementation and evaluation of the services and programs of the
  • Section, based on the goals and quality standards set for the Section
  • Develops metrics that will systematically monitor and track achievement of
  • goals
  • Recommends, monitors, and enforces agreed upon operating standards, guidelines,
  • procedures, and workflow of the Section
  • Benchmarks practices and new technologies to optimize and advance Section
  • resources
  • Coordinates and collaborates with Rizal Library Executive Team and Section
  • Heads for projects and services involving the Section
  • Operations Implementation
  • Oversees the organization and inventory of section’s resources (i.e., print and
  • digital collections) and ensures physical upkeep of equipment
  • Conducts review of existing collection, weeds out superseded library resources in obsolete formats
  • Oversees the proper setup of requested library resources, equipment and facilities, and
  • usage of collection
  • Coordinates with service providers (internal to Rizal Library and external service
  • providers) in the maintenance and repair of the section’s facilities and equipment
  • Coordinates with the Facilities Management Services on the proper layout,
  • maintenance, and repair of the section’s facilities
  • Coordinates with service providers (internal to Rizal Library and external
  • service centers) in the maintenance and repair of section’s equipment
  • Reporting and Information Dissemination
  • Prepares and submits budget requests, financial reports, statistical reports,
  • project reports, and special reports required from the Section
  • Coordinates with the Web Librarian in updating the Section’s webpage
  • Staff Development and Management
  • Manages the performance of staff by setting standards ortargets, monitoring and
  • evaluating performance, and developing interventions to address performance gaps
II Library User and Client Support
  • Monitors and attends to online (e.g. email, social media sites) library queries and
  • requests
  • Attends to in-depth queries and reference questions of library users
  • Conducts Reader’s Advisory Services to direct library users on materials pertinent
  • to their research and interests
  • Creates listing of bibliographies for particular topics as requested by library
  • users
  • Coordinates and conducts library orientation and guided tours of the Section and of
  • Rizal Library.
  • Develops and conducts tutorial classes and trainings on basic and in-depth
  • research, and the use of the different online resources of the library
  • Creates library guides and frequently asked questions (FAQs)
  • Coordinates with IT to ensure available and reliable IT system to access
  • electronic resources, on and off-campus.
  • Develops and maintains networking in Library profession to strengthen services to
  • users.
  • Collection Development and Maintenance
  • Recommends, and evaluates, collections (potential and existing) to be acquired, de-
  • selected, repaired, preserved, or digitized
  • Evaluates library databases and system applications

III Performs other tasks that may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of library operations and standards
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in higher education and academic libraries
  • Ability to conceptualize and design marketing and promotion materials
  • Skills in planning, leading, organizing, and controlling
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Master’s degree in another field appropriate to tertiary level library needs
  • Licensed librarian
  • Four (4) years library experience in a professional area
  • Three (3) years of experience as supervisor
