About the Role

The Intermediate Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing payroll processes, performing reconciliations, resolving financial discrepancies, and supporting general accounting tasks. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

The Intermediate Accountant will work closely with the head accountant and the finance team to maintain seamless financial operations and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.

What you will do:

  • Process payroll end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Track and report employee hours to management for accurate payroll processing.
  • Update payroll systems with new staff information, ensuring all records are current and correct.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, including managing and recording bank fees.
  • Reconcile directors' superannuation funds on a monthly basis, ensuring all contributions and payments are accurately recorded.
  • Reconcile creditor statements for end-of-month (EOM) payments, verifying all amounts due and facilitating timely payments.
  • Manage and resolve escalations related to financial discrepancies and transport issues, ensuring prompt and effective solutions.
  • Address issues arising in billing software and other financial systems, collaborating with relevant departments to resolve any anomalies.
  • Assist the head accountant with various accounting tasks as needed, providing support and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Support the finance team to ensure all end-of-month processes are accurate and up to date, contributing to the timely completion of financial statements.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Educational background required / desired:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field..

Work experience required / desired:

3 - 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on payroll and reconciliations

Years of experience required / desired: 3 - 5 years
Communications skills required / desired: Strong written and verbal communication skills, rated at least 8.
MS Office applications proficiency required / desired: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel with a rating of at least 8.

NetSuite proficiency required / desired: with a rating of at least 8/10.

Other qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using payroll and accounting software
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage escalations effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
