Web Developer (E-Commerce & Web Design Focus)

This is a remote position.

Working Hours and Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM AEST (with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break per day)
• Work is not required on official Philippine national public holidays.
• Contractor can apply for holiday on an unpaid basis.
• This role has an initial duration of 3-6 months with the possibility to extend

Thereafter, there is the opportunity to be engaged on a part time basis for ongoing Website Maintenance and day two support.

The added function of tailored customer portals with customer log-in feature is a further requirement. You will collaborate with the business owner to ensure that our online platform meets business goals and delivers a seamless user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. E-Commerce Website Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain e-commerce website using industry-standard technologies (Currently the business utilises WIX E Commerce. This to be reviewed and determined ongoing).
• Implement, customize, and optimize shopping cart functionalities and checkout processes to improve conversion rates.

1. Web Design and User Experience:

• Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility for all web pages.
• Conduct user testing and gather feedback to continuously improve site usability and performance.

1. Front-End Development:

• Craft engaging user interfaces incorporating modern design principles.
• Integrate APIs and third-party services, including payment gateways, shipping providers, and analytics tools.
• Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability while adhering to best practices in SEO.

1. Back-End Development:

• Manage databases and perform server-side scripting to control and store data effectively.
• Ensure site security by implementing best practices around data protection and compliance.

1. Ongoing Maintenance and Day 2 Support:

• Monitor site performance, perform regular updates, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Provide end-user support for e-commerce functionalities and train internal teams on platform usage as needed.

1. Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with business owner to ensure alignment between design, branding, and online promotional activities.
• Coordinate with business owner to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs on time.
• Engage in team brainstorming sessions to develop innovative solutions and enhance e-commerce strategies.

• Web Development, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience of 3+ years in web development, specifically in an e-commerce environment.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).
• Previous experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WIX, WooCommerce, Magento) and their customization.
• Solid understanding of SEO principles and website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush).

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of graphic design and visual branding; proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Figma.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and project management tools (Jira, Trello).
• Familiarity with back-end technologies and database management systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
