Traffic Control Officer (TCO)

The Traffic Control Officer is responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring traffic flow to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. This role involves coordinating traffic control measures, preparing layouts and plans, and working closely with project teams, contractors, and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement traffic management plans for construction sites or public roadways.
• Monitor daily traffic conditions and adjust control measures as needed.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and local authorities regarding traffic schemes and road safety.
• Prepare traffic layout drawings and signage plans using design software.
• Ensure compliance with traffic laws, safety standards, and project requirements.
• Conduct site inspections to assess traffic risks and recommend improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to traffic operations.
• Respond to incidents and provide immediate solutions to minimize disruption and hazards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience on being a TCO or a related role.
• Must possess a COSH (Construction Occupational Safety and Health) Certificate.
• Proficient in using CAD software and SketchUp for traffic layout and design planning.
• Strong knowledge of traffic rules, road safety standards, and traffic control procedures.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and coordination abilities.
• Ability to work on-site and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
