Inventory Clerk

Job Summary:
The Inventory Clerk will be responsible for maintaining and managing the company's inventory of materials, tools, and equipment used in various construction projects. This role involves accurately recording and tracking inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment of stock, and supporting overall inventory management processes to avoid shortages and overstock situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain current inventory levels, ensuring that quantities are accurate and sufficient to meet project requirements.
- Perform regular physical counts of inventory and reconcile actual stock counts with inventory records.
- Receiving and Stocking:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments of materials and equipment.
- Properly store items in designated locations, ensuring that they are organized and easily accessible.
- Label and tag inventory items as per company guidelines.
- Order Processing:
- Prepare and process purchase orders for replenishment of inventory.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm order details, delivery times, and resolve any discrepancies.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory transactions, including receipts, deliveries, and adjustments.
- Use inventory management software to update and track stock levels.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect and ensure the quality of materials received and report any issues or damages to the supervisor.
- Ensure that inventory items meet the required specifications and standards.
- Inventory Reporting:
- Generate and distribute regular inventory reports to management, highlighting any discrepancies or areas of concern.
- Assist in preparing for audits and physical inventory counts.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to forecast inventory needs based on project timelines.
- Coordinate with site supervisors to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials on-site.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in handling and storing inventory.
- Maintain a clean and organized inventory storage area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in inventory management or logistics are a plus.
- Proven experience as an Inventory Clerk or similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory records.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to inventory storage and handling.
