A Pasalubong Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and packaging traditional Filipino delicacies/PASALUBONG, treats, and meals meant for gifting (pasalubong). In a commercial setting, this role focuses on high-volume production, consistency, and strict food hygiene standards to ensure products are travel-ready and appetizing
Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare ingredients (chopping, mixing, butchering) and cook delicacies such as Toasted Butter Otap,Ching a Ling, Yema, Pulboron, Merengue pastries, or regional delicacies following standard recipes.Quality Control: Ensure the taste, appearance, and quality of food items meet the company's standards.Packaging & Presentation: Package items securely for travel to ensure they remain fresh and visually appealing.Kitchen Sanitation: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, including cleaning equipment and utensils before and after use.Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of ingredients, assist in inventory counting, and report low stocks or shortages.Speed & Efficiency: Ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously during high-volume periods or holidays.
Qualifications/Requirements
RequirementsExperience:
Proven experience as a Cook, Line Cook, or kitchen hand, preferably in a cafe, restaurant, or pasalubong hub.Technical Skills:
Knowledge of various cooking methods (grilling, baking, frying) and strict adherence to food safety standards.Physical Stamina: Able to stand for long periods, lift heavy ingredients, and work in a fast-paced environment.Hygiene:
Strong understanding of personal hygiene and food hygiene practices.Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (Vocational Culinary Arts is a plus).Other:
Often requires being hardworking, honest, and able to work full-time.
