The Role: IT Manager & Automation Lead

We’re looking for a highly skilled and execution-driven IT Manager & Automation Lead to architect, manage, and optimize internal systems across a distributed, high-performance team. This role goes beyond technical support—you’ll lead automation strategy and execution using tools like n8n and Python, helping to build scalable infrastructure that minimizes friction and enhances team productivity.

You will own the full IT lifecycle (from onboarding to asset management), manage core systems, and deliver automations that support our teams in Engineering, People Ops, Finance, and beyond. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of hands-on IT and systems design, is deeply comfortable with scripting and APIs, and sees internal tooling as a force multiplier.

Suggested Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (flexible depending on business needs)

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all internal IT issues across remote and warehouse environments
• Build and manage an effective internal service desk using Jira, Slack, and automation integrations
• Fully own onboarding/offboarding processes including device setup, credential provisioning, and access management
• Manage user accounts, group policies, and credentials across Google Workspace, Slack, Hubstaff, and more
• Handle procurement, shipping logistics, hardware configuration, and return processes company-wide
• Maintain asset tracking systems and ensure accurate, real-time records of all hardware and software licenses

• Lead the development and deployment of internal automations using n8n, Python, and APIs to streamline IT, People Ops, and operational workflows
• Build and maintain robust integrations across tools like Jira, Slack, Google Workspace, and Confluence
• Design automated systems for device management, ticket triage, onboarding flows, and access provisioning
• Evaluate and implement MDM/RMM tools (e.g., NinjaOne) to monitor system health, ensure compliance, and reduce manual effort
• Partner cross-functionally to architect internal tools and reduce operational overhead via automation

• Drive or collaborate on key infrastructure and automation projects such as:
• Internal Wiki buildout using Confluence
• Full rollout and tuning of NinjaOne
• Jira IT request workflow standardization and automation
• Onboarding automation system integrated with People Ops and Engineering workflows
• Time tracking automation and reporting infrastructure (e.g., Hubstaff)

• Conduct regular audits on access permissions, licensing, and inventory
• Implement systems and policies aligned with security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2 readiness)
• Ensure proper documentation and rollout of internal IT and automation policies across teams

• 8+ years of experience in IT systems administration, automation engineering, or technical operations
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python
• Hands-on experience with n8n or similar workflow automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Workato, Node-RED)
• Strong knowledge of Google Workspace, Jira, Slack integrations, and API-based systems
• Familiarity with MDM/RMM tools and network security protocols
• Proven ability to drive cross-functional IT and automation projects independently
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
• Experience supporting distributed teams and managing multiple concurrent priorities

• Experience working in high-growth startups or enterprise environments with strong automation cultures
• Prior contributions to internal developer platforms, tooling infrastructure, or compliance programs
• Familiarity with Google Admin SDK, Workspace APIs, and custom bot development (e.g., Slack apps or webhooks)
• Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar IT governance frameworks
