Job Description

• Electricians use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot electrical problems in vehicles. This includes issues with the battery, alternator, starter, wiring, sensors, and various electrical components, and vehicle air conditioning system.
• Repair and replace electrical components. Once they have identified the problem, the Electrician repair or replace faulty electrical components. This may involve soldering wires, replacing fuses, or installing new switches, relays, or connectors.
• Electricians are often responsible for installing new electrical systems or components in vehicles. This can include audio systems, lighting systems (interior and exterior), security systems, navigation systems, and more.
• They may need to perform wiring or rewiring tasks to ensure the proper functioning of electrical systems in vehicles. This could involve installing new wiring harnesses, repairing damaged wiring, or reconfiguring existing wiring.
• Regular maintenance of electrical systems is essential to prevent future problems. Electricians inspect electrical components, connectors, and wiring to ensure they are in good condition and make necessary adjustments or replacements as needed.
• Electricians should perform safety checks to ensure that electrical systems are functioning correctly and pose no hazards to the vehicle's occupants.
• Keeping detailed records of the work performed, parts used, and any recommendations for future maintenance is essential for tracking vehicle history and ensuring accountability.

• At least High School level/Short Course Certificate/Vocational Diploma
• At least 6 months of experience as Auto Electrician
• NCI or NCII Automotive Electrician
• Interpret/read wiring diagram; Fundamentals of electrical wiring
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring; Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
