Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations on construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications. They act as a liaison between the project manager and contractors, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:

Project Management Support:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and managing site activities, including scheduling work and resources.
  • Monitor progress to ensure that construction work is proceeding according to the schedule.

Technical Expertise:

  • Review and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
  • Provide technical support and advice to workers and contractors on-site, addressing challenges or issues.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that construction activities meet the required standards, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Inspect materials and workmanship on-site to verify they comply with industry standards and safety regulations.

Safety Management:

  • Enforce strict safety guidelines and ensure the site complies with health and safety legislation.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.

Supervision of Site Workforce:

  • Supervise construction teams, subcontractors, and laborers to ensure productivity and quality of work.
  • Resolve on-site disputes and help maintain a positive working environment.

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Monitor the cost and material usage on-site, ensuring the project stays within budget.
  • Keep track of labor hours, material quantities, and equipment usage to ensure cost efficiency.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain daily logs of site activities, including progress, issues, and any changes made to the plans.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports to the project manager and other relevant stakeholders.

Problem Solving:

  • Identify and address any technical problems that arise on-site, proposing solutions in a timely manner.
  • Adapt plans as necessary to accommodate changing site conditions or unforeseen challenges.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years experience of on-site engineering experience (Vertical Construction), managing smaller projects or parts of larger projects, overseeing workers, and handling technical issues.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and site management.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
