Internal Audit Officer

About the role

As an Internal Audit Officer, you will be responsible for conducting independent audits, identifying control weaknesses, and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance across the organisation.

• Conduct comprehensive internal audits of various departments and business processes to assess the effectiveness of controls and risk management practices
• Develop and execute annual audit plans aligned with the organisation's risk profile and strategic objectives
• Evaluate compliance with policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
• Identify control deficiencies, operational inefficiencies, and areas of risk exposure
• Prepare detailed audit reports documenting findings, observations, and recommendations for improvement
• Follow up on management's implementation of audit recommendations and track corrective actions
• Assist in investigating suspected fraud or irregularities within the organisation
• Maintain detailed documentation of audit procedures, evidence, and working papers
• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory authorities as required
• Provide advisory services to management on risk and control matters

• Professional accounting qualification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or equivalent recognised certification
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in internal audit, risk management, or compliance roles
• Strong knowledge of audit methodologies, internal control frameworks, and risk assessment techniques
• Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and data analysis tools
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Proven ability to communicate complex audit findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple audit engagements simultaneously
• Sound understanding of banking operations and regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions
• High level of integrity, objectivity, and professional ethics
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment
• Preferred experience in the banking or financial services sector
