Financial Accountant (Hybrid, AU Accounting Exp)

Job Description:

  • Work with a team of finance staff, including AP/AR, to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all financial operations including financial accounting, reconciliations, transaction processing, financial management reporting, statutory reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the accurate and efficient entry of data into the designated financial packages.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant Delegation of Authority with respect to all financial processes.
  • Prepare and present individual site/entity and consolidated financial reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow Statements and KPI reporting, including associated written analysis and commentary required for Board reporting.
  • Work closely with the Senior Corporate Accountant to deliver annual budgets and forecasts supported by detailed assumption and scenario workings and commentary.
  • Attend to cost recoveries, intercompany charges, transactions, commercial revenue and recoveries, loan repayments and interest charge calculations.
  • Assist with processing of accounts payable and receivables, as required.
  • Monitor debtors and assist with the debt collection process, as required.
  • Ensure month-end accounting processes are managed and deadlines are met.
  • Maintain company asset registers.
  • Prepare detailed financial analysis of business and project performance using key drivers and metrics and report significant issues and proposed remedies to management.
  • Liaise with operational and corporate staff and provide training and support in relation to financial processes.
  • Prepare and administer periodic returns and related compliance matters for GST, PAYG Withholding and Income Tax.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of financial processes and systems.
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required.
  • Contribute to and promote a continuous workplace health and safety culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or any related field.
  • Chartered Accountant / Certified Public Accountant.
  • 3+ years of experience in Australian Accounting.
  • Previous experience reporting on multiple related entities.
  • Experience in the use of MYOB.
  • Experience across the agricultural sector is a plus.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • High level of computer literacy and use of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • High level document, report writing and business case development.
  • Demonstrated involvement in system and process improvement implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work at the strategic and operational levels and apply technical accounting knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team to contribute to commercial outcomes.
  • High level of resilience and ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making.
  • Strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills and ability to prioritise work in a busy environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain productive and cohesive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
